Disclosure — I want to show you how I used the Stitch pattern { Light and Airy } from the Crochet Stitch Guide by Jean LeinHauser & Mary Ann Frits , to create this adorable Beach Skirt wrap. (Not a paid AD)

Directions

**Chain multiples of 10 +2 . Based on my waist size I chained 150 plus 2 ( base this on your waist size in inches – move up or down as you need to, I just kept chaining a bit and wrap it around my waist to see if it would fit )

Row 1 -Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next chain ,place stitch marker in this stitch *ch3,sk next 3 chs, Vst in next chain,ch3,sk next 3 chains , sc in each of the next 3 chains . repeat from *across , ending last repeat with sc in each of the last 2 chains. Place stitch marker in last sc . CH1 and turn

Row 2 -sc in first sc, move up stitch marker *ch4 ,shell in ch-2 space of next vst ,ch4 ,sk next sc , sc in next sc , repeat from *across , ending last repeat with sk next sc, sc in. Ch1, turn ( making sure stitch marker is in first and last stitches.)

Row 3 – * Sc in each of the next 5 DC ,ch7;repeat from * across, ending last repeat with ch4 ( instead of 7)TR in last SC , ch3 turn

Row 4 – dc in first TR, * ch3, sk next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc **, ch3 , Vst in 4th chain of next ch7 space, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, ch3 , 2 dc in 4th chain of turning chain, ch3 ( counts as first dc on following row ) Turn

Row 5– 2 dc in first dc , *ch4 , sk next sc , sc in next sc , ch4, shell in ch2 space of next Vst ; repeat from *across, ending last repeat with ch5, sk next sc ,sc in next sc , ch4 , 3 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch; ch1 turn

Row 6– sc in each of the first 3 dc , *ch7, sc in each of the next 5 dc ; repeat from * across, ending last repeat with sc in each of the last 2 dc, sc in 3rd ch of turning ch , ch1 turn

Row 7 -sc in each of the first 2 sc, * ch 3 , Vstin 4th chain of ch7 space , ch3, sk next sc, sc in next 3 sc; repeat from * across , ending last repeat with sc in each of the last 2 sc ;ch1 turn

You will then repeat rows 2-7 until the fabric is 16 inches in length when you wrap it around your waist, OR the length you prefer for your body, This is customizable.

I ended up with 30 total rows, my last row was a “row 6 ” – Do NOT end row yet. Ch3 and turn

Last Row – Work 170 dc across the top . This will be the row you will weave in and out the rope belt that will hold your wrap/skirt closed(shown in photo ) Once you have completed the row of dc , end row and leave a 5 inch tail to weave in and out .

With a contrasting section of yarn from the top row , ch 180 . snip yarn and pull yarn through , weave in and out the tail.

Here is a showcase of how easy it is to cinch the skirt

Take your “rope” you just made and weave it in and out out the top row of wrap, about every 3 dc ( seen in photo above). make sure to tie a knot on each end of rope once its completely woven through the skirt.
