One of the best things to make with stale bread is French Toast ! The way it just absorbs the sweet tasty custard !
However many people can not eat dairy or choose not to. So this is a simple recipe to use when you want to indulge!
This recipe will make enough custard for 15 slices
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 3 medium eggs
- 3 tsps sugar or Splenda
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 15 slices of your favorite unflavored bread ( white, wheat, potato etc.)
- Maple Syrup for serving ( or your favorite toppings)
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a shallow dish to dip bread in
Dip each slice of bread in custard quickly on each side and place in a greased pre heated pan. Do not crowd pan.

Cook on each side a few minutes until golden brown! Keep slices warm by placing on a cookie sheet and keeping in oven set at 200F
** Fun mix ins for custard
- 1/4 tsp of cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp of pumpkin pie seasoning
- 3 Tbs cocoa powder for Chocolate Flavored French Toast
