A Shrug is the perfect project if you want to make a sweater but are intimidated by all that’s involved.

This Shrug is really based on the shape of the entire finished product ( essentially a large rectangle ) You don’t have to make separate sleeves ! You will just have to measure your arms stretched out ( wrist to wrist ) for the length of rectangle and then neck to top of thigh ( to cover the butt )
Once the rectangle is complete you will fold it in half length wise, measure where you will put the sleeves on each side , leaving a space open in the middle to wear it.

Special Stitches
** Note you can change the length you need by altering the amount you Chain in the start ( you will chain multiples of 8 and then add 4 more )
Shell – In designated Stitch – 2 DC, CH3, 2 DC

Row 1 – 2 DC in the 4th CH from the hook, * SK next 3 CHs ( SC, CH3, SC) in next CH, SK next 3 CHs , SHell in the next. Repeat from * across until last 4 CHs, in last CH do 3 DC. CH3 and turn ( CH3 counts as first HDC + CH1 space of next row )
Row 2– SC in first DC * Shell in next CH3 space ( in between the two SC), ( SC, CH3, SC) in CH3 space of Shell Stitch in previous row . Essentially doing Shells in Ch3 Spaces( in between the 2 SC) , and SC/Ch3/SC in Shells of previous row. Repeat in pattern At end of row in last DC ( SC, CH1 , HDC). CH3 and turn ( counts as first DC of next row )

Row 3 -2 DC in the HDC *( Sc, CH3,SC)in next CH3 Space, Shell in Next CH3 space. Repeat from * across ending last Rep with 3 DC in 2nd CH of turning CH3. Ch3 Turn ( Counts as first HDC + CH1 space)

Lay piece flat , and measure out each arm from opening to interior by 9 inches , seam arm closed and weave in any loose threads .
